Don't spend $1,500 on a new fan clutch. Rebuild yours in 30 minutes with this Heavy Duty Kit.
Your fan clutch is slipping, leaking air, or the bearing has seized. The engine is overheating on grades, the fan won't engage, or it runs at full speed all the time. The dealer wants to sell you a completely new hub assembly for $1,400–$1,800. But the failure point is almost always just the Seals — not the entire clutch.
This heavy-duty rebuild kit replaces ALL the wear parts in your Horton DM Advantage clutch with upgraded components. New friction seals — everything that actually wears out. The kit uses dual-row bearings that are stronger than the original single-bearing Horton design, giving you longer service life. The high-torque spring pack ensures the fan stays engaged when you need it. Replaces Horton part number 9906683.
This rebuild kit fits all trucks and equipment using the Horton DM Advantage (DriveMaster) 2-Speed fan clutch:
Look for the Horton logo on the front face of your fan clutch. If it says "DM Advantage" or "DriveMaster" and your parts book references 9906683, this is the correct kit.
When rebuilding with this kit:
Will this kit fix my overheating problem?
If the overheating is caused by a slipping or seized fan clutch, yes. The most common failure mode on the Horton DM Advantage is worn friction material and failed bearings — exactly what this kit replaces. However, if the overheating is caused by a plugged radiator, failed water pump, or blown head gasket, the fan clutch may not be your issue.
Is this kit as reliable as a brand-new Horton clutch?
Yes — and in one key area, it's actually better. The dual-row bearings in this kit have higher load capacity than the OEM single-row bearing used in the original Horton design. The friction material and air cartridge are equivalent to OEM spec. You're getting OEM-equivalent or better performance at a fraction of the cost.
How do I know if my fan clutch needs to be rebuilt?
Common symptoms: engine overheats on grades or under load, fan doesn't engage when it should, fan runs at full speed all the time (seized bearing), air leaking from the clutch body, or visible wobble in the fan assembly (worn bearing). If you hear a grinding noise from the front of the engine, the bearing is failing and a rebuild is urgent.
What if my clutch housing is cracked or damaged?
This kit replaces the internal wear components — friction liner, bearings, air cartridge, and springs. If the outer housing or hub body is cracked, gouged, or warped, you'll need a complete replacement assembly. Inspect the housing carefully before ordering.
